If you’re not ready to raise chickens in your backyard, you could try your hand at another popular trend: urban beekeeping.

Regular Chicago Tonight viewers know Jeanne Nolan of The Organic Gardener, who helps us maintain WTTW’s small plot. But you probably haven’t met her husband, Verd Nolan, a hobbyist beekeeper.

Verd started keeping bees three years ago, but his last colony didn’t survive the winter, so he started anew on Tuesday. We visited their farm to see what the “buzz” is all about.
