For the first time in 23 years, there will be a new Secretary of State in Illinois come November. Democrat Jesse White has been in office — and often the top vote-getter of anyone on the ballot— since 1999. His retirement has a lot of candidates eager to take over, including two Republicans:
Illinois State Representative Dan Brady; he’s also a funeral director and former coroner.
And former local and federal prosecutor John Milhiser; since his term as U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois ended last year, he’s taken up teaching.
