Prime Video, Lionsgate Sign Multiyear Theatrical Movie Deal-April 2024

Prime Video has signed a multiyear theatrical movie agreement with Lionsgate.

As part of the new deal, Prime Video will secure an exclusive window after Starzs earlier first-run window. The agreement will kick off with Lionsgates 2026 theatrical release slate, a package of films from the studios 2025 slate and a commitment to Prime Video for licensing library movies and TV.

The major streamer will combine the Lionsgate movie and TV titles with those from Amazon MGM Studios and its other Hollywood partners. As part of the deal unveiled Wednesday, Prime Video will land Lionsgate movie titles like the third installment of theNow You See Mefranchise and the next installment of the Hunger Games franchise,The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. And from 2026, Prime Video will be able to cherry pickpremium titlesfrom Lionsgates catalog like theJohn Wick, Twilight, Divergent and Sawfranchises and TV series likeNurse JackieandWeeds for its subscribers. We know that Prime members love great movies, and as a first-stop entertainment destination, we are excited to bring Lionsgates terrific slate of entertaining films to Prime Video soon after their theatrical release, Brad Beale, vp of worldwidelicensing and distribution for Prime Video, said in a statement.

The Prime Video deal comes as Lionsgate continues to license the studios annual portfolio of feature films, its TV slate, its Starz original programming and the wide sale of media content to broadcast, cable, SVOD, AVOD and FAST platforms worldwide.

This agreement unlocks significant incremental value for our slate while affirming the great popularity of Lionsgate movies among an ever-expanding portfolio of buyers, Lionsgate president of worldwide television distribution Jim Packer said in his own statement.
