Peter Chernins North Road Company has acquired Mexican production company Perro Azul.
Perro Azul produced Netflixs most-watched show produced in Mexico and Latin America entitled Who Killed Sara? (Quin mat a Sara?). This is North Roads first acquisition in Latin America and comes as the company seeks to strengthen North Roads international presence.
Perro Azuls founding partners, Alexis Fridman and Juan Uruchurtu, will remain in their leadership roles, as will the companys executive producers Diego Rabasa and Julin de Tavira. Fridman and Uruchurtu will report to Jan Frouman, president of North Road International. Founded in 2019, Perro Azuls production portfolio also includes The Secret of the River (El Secreto Del Ro), Netflixs most popular Spanish-language show of October 2024. As well as the Netflix hits Queens on the Run (Fuga de Reinas), Nothing to See Here (Ojitos De Huevo) and Daughter From Another Mother (Madre Solo Hay Dos).
Latin America is one of the worlds most exciting and fastest-growing regions for content, offering incredible opportunities to connect with global audiences. Perro Azul is the perfect partner for us in the region. Alexis, Juan, Diego, Julin, and the entire Perro Azul team have built a company widely respected by audiences, best-in-class creatives, and buyers alike for its innovative storytelling and exceptional production quality. We are thrilled to welcome them to North Road as we bring their bold and beloved slate to the world stage and continue our strategic international expansion, Frouman and Scott Manson, president of North Road, said in a statement.
This is North Roads latest step in expanding its international presence after purchasing Karga Seven Pictures, a leading creator and producers of scripted film and TV in Turkey. North Roads international co-productions include Bad Boy, the Israeli series from original Euphoria creator Ron Leshem; Heart of a Killer, a medical thriller starring Tehrans Niv Sultan; and Suture, the Brazilian series from international Emmy winner Zasha Robles, released on Prime Video in Latin America and Portugal.
