Greg Maffei’s Liberty Media CEO Pay Fell to $24.3M in 2024 Before Exit, Chair John Malone Made $1.2M-April 2024

Media mogul John MalonesLiberty Media which owns the Formula One racing circuit, and a stake in events promoter Live Nation Entertainment, among others has disclosed that Greg Maffeis 2024 compensation package amounted to $24.3 million before giving up his president and CEO roles at the end of the year.

Maffei had earned $28.7 million in 2023, $22.4 million in 2022, and $21.6 million in 2021.

In 2024, his stock awards rose to $8.7 million from $7.1 million, and he received a $1 million bonus that he had not received in 2023. But his non-equity incentive plan compensation fell to $9.5 million from $14.3 million, and the value of his option awards dropped to $1.1 million from $3.8 million. The filing also disclosed the annual pay for chairman Malone, which amounted to $1.18 million, compared with $1.27 million in 2023, compared with $1.3 million in 2022, and $1.1 million in 2021.

The latest annual pay details were disclosed in a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday. The annual meeting of stockholders of Liberty Media will take place on May12.

In the fall, audio entertainment powerhouse SiriusXM combined with the Liberty Sirius XM tracking stock group ofLiberty Media, creating a new, consolidated publicly traded company.

Early this year, Derek Chang was appointed president and CEO ofLiberty Media.He has been a director of the company since March 2021 and has held leadership roles at such companies as EverPass Media, the NBA, DirecTV, Scripps, Charter and TCI. Chang started his new role on Feb. 1.

Chang brings to our board extensive knowledge of media, entertainment and sports industries across all global markets with a particular focus on the U.S. and Asia Pacific, Libertys Friday regulatory filing noted. He brings considerable operating and financial expertise from his leadership roles and operational experience from his policy-making positions at NBA China, DirecTV, Scripps and Charter.
