Former Venu CEO Pete Distad will lead Foxs new direct-to-consumer streaming platform.
Distad will be CEO of the recently announced platform, which has yet to be named, but will include channels from Fox News, Fox Sports and the Fox broadcast network. In the new role, Distad will report to Paul Cheesbrough, chief executive officer of Tubi Media Group.
Pete is a proven leader with deep experience in consumer products, and were thrilled to have him join the team to lead this new platform. His track record of innovation, execution, and building world-class streaming products speaks for itself, and were confident that under his leadership, we will deliver a best-in-class service that showcases Foxs premium content and brands, Cheesbrough said. Distad comes to the role after being named to lead Venu Sports, the sports-focused streaming service that was meant to come from The Walt Disney Co, Warner Bros. Discovery and Fox Corp. Though plans were announced for the service, Venu never launched amid legal pressure from Fubo, DirecTV and Echostar.
Before Venu, Distad worked at Apple for a decade, where he was responsible for the business, operations and global distribution for video, sports and Apple TV+. Distad was previously part of the original Hulu launch team and served as senior vice president of marketing and distribution on the executive team there.
Im excited to bring Foxs leading sports, news, and entertainment content to audiences outside the traditional pay TV bundle for the first time via an all-new streaming platform, Distad said. Working closely with our content, distribution, and platform partners, were going to build and grow a differentiated viewing experience for consumers to access their favorite Fox programming.
